Parent Connection

Parent Council:
The Parent Council is a group of parents who volunteer their time to coordinate Parent Connection meetings, fundraisers, field trips, and other activities in support of our school.
At Parent Connection meetings, you can:
  • Stay current! These meetings act as an informational resource for parents, not only with current changes within the Mead School District, but also with ALE programs.
  • Speak up! This is the place to communicate ideas, and ask questions.
  • Get involved! We encourage parent involvement in our school, and want to utilize your many gifts and abilities!

Our kids have attended Five Mile Prairie since 2007. That’s over a decade! I tell everyone we truly get the "best of both worlds" being a part of a program where we can have the kids at home most of the week, but also get to know good friends from school, and benefit from brilliant teachers. I am so grateful for our wonderful, supportive staff, and for the beautiful historic schoolhouse building in which we meet. Looking forward to another great year!

I have two energetic boys, and have been at Five Mile since 2016. I appreciate the support from the teachers/staff, the structure, variety of classes, and the assistance with curriculum cost. It has been a blessing getting to know other parents who are actively involved in the education of their children. I appreciate the opportunity to serve this wonderful program, and give back a little of what this school has given to our family. I help plan the field trips and love suggestions if you have a great idea or connection!

I am just your stereotypical “soccer mom,” married over 20 years, with 5 kids. We have been here at Five Mile Prairie since 2007 and have loved it all the way. I’ll admit that sometimes I daydream of being the mom in her workout clothes, having coffee with a friend at Starbucks…with a clean, quiet house awaiting my arrival. But really, things are just the opposite, and I’d never trade my chaos in a million years!
